Hello Everyone,
It is currently snowing and the temp is -3. Another quiet, lovely day on
Two Inlets Lake. I have some updated news and some new information
to share with you today.
1) The MN Pollution Control Agency has placed the 2008 final draft on
their website at www.pca.state.mn.us. Select the heading: Minnesota's Impaired
Waters and TMDLs, then select the heading: 303d TMDL List of Impaired Waters.
2) Per Marilyn, of the MN Division of Waters, Two Inlets Lake now has an
official Ordinary High Water mark (OHW) of 1456.6 feet above sea level,
per the survey done on 1-10-2008.
3) Thanks to all who read and responded to the Two Inlets Forest Trail
Riders ATV Club proposal. Per Tim Browning, MN DNR, a notice will be
sent to all who commented on the proposal once the issue is resolved.
4) I was contacted by Bob Taylor, chairman of the Becker County COLA
Monitoring Committee, in regards to collecting water samples for testing.
A grant was applied for and granted to test a special group of 25 lakes, and
Two Inlets Lake is on it. Al and Ginger Guptill have volunteered to do
the sampling, in addition to the secchi disc readings, for Two Inlets Lake.
Normally, COLA underwrites 2/3 of the test costs and the lake association
would cover the balance. This grant will cover all expenses for 2008 and 2009.
As always, if you have any questions or issues that you feel would be of
interest to our members, please contact me or any board member.
Sincerely,
Terry Goodrum

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to 2008.
Just a quick update as to some Two Inlets Lake Area Association matters.
1) The MN Pollution Control Agency will be posting the "final draft" of the 2008 TMDL List after it is presented at the January 22, 2008 Citizen's Board Meeting. Dennis and I attended the open meeting this past October to find out if Two Inlets Lake would be on this list. It was not.
I will continue to keep track of this issue and advise you of where to find the list after its release date. The TMDL List shows study timelines to determine how the listed lakes breakdown specific pollutants.
2) The 'Slow No Wake' buoys for the Weigelwood channel have been purchased and will be installed after ice-out. The cost was approximately $342, this was lowered by a 10% end-of-season discount and the $50.00 shipping charge was waived because we picked them up while in Wisconsin.
3) The MN Division of Waters crew was on the ice today and took the necessary readings in order to set the Ordinary High Water Mark. The information will be available in 2-3 weeks from Bob Merritt at the Detroit Lakes office. I will contact him and provide the results when available.
4) The Two Inlets Township has an e-mail address of twoinletstownship@yahoo.com for any township concerns you may have. A website page is in the planning stages.
If you have any questions or concerns about Two Inlets Lake, please contact me or any board member.
Sincerely,
Terry Goodrum
